Wheelchair Safety and Mobility Support

Delivered by our Occupational Therapy team

Help your staff develop a better understanding of safe wheelchair use and everyday mobility support.

Training topics include:

• General wheelchair safety and handling considerations
• Recognising potential risks and common safety concerns
• Understanding positioning, comfort and equipment considerations
• Identifying when an Occupational Therapy assessment or review may be required

This session provides general education to support safer everyday practices. It does not replace individual wheelchair assessments, equipment prescriptions or personalised training.

Mealtime Management and Swallowing Safety

Delivered by our Speech Pathology team

Build your team’s awareness of safe mealtime practices and the importance of recognising swallowing difficulties.

Training topics include:

• Understanding swallowing difficulties (dysphagia)
• Recognising signs of swallowing difficulties and potential choking risks
• General principles of safe and supportive mealtime environments
• Understanding individual mealtime management plans
• Knowing when to seek specialist Speech Pathology advice

This training supports staff awareness and education. Individual swallowing assessments and personalised mealtime recommendations require separate clinical services.

Positive Behaviour Support Training

Delivered by our Behaviour Support team

Support your staff to better understand behaviour, recognise potential triggers and respond more confidently to people with complex support needs.

Training topics include:

• Understanding behaviour as a form of communication
• Recognising potential triggers and unmet needs
• Exploring proactive and person-centred support approaches
• Understanding the role of Positive Behaviour Support Plans
• Recognising when specialist behaviour support input may be required

This session provides general staff education rather than individualised behaviour support assessment or plan development.
